They would then come back the next night to pick up the flamingos and move them to a newly nominated yard.īy the end of the summer, the group had raised $6,722, which they donated to Hurley Children’s Hospital located within Hurley Medical Center. The group spent the summer planting 25 flamingos in people’s yard at night with a note attached asking for a donation of $25 to move them to a different yard. They money used to purchase the screen was raised by a group of Grand Blanc High School students involved in a non-profit organization called the Pink Flamingo Project. The donations people made to move the flamingos to a new home helped purchase electronics for Hurley patients.Ī touch screen game console, similar to an iPad, was installed on the pediatric floor at Hurley Medical Center. The teens created this group last spring for an Advanced Macroeconomics class and they were inspired by other Pink Flamingo Projects across the country. Students choose from over 30 Advanced Placement classes, more than 20 Career and Technical Education courses, numerous World Language options, a wide array of fine arts classes, and a state of the art.
